Rich In Tradition & The Color Green Since 1919

Coon Creek Sod Farms, LLC grows its premium Kentucky Bluegrass sod on 430 acres of land that we own in Northern Illinois. We supply sod to both wholesale and retail customers. Coon Creek continues to rise above the competition and take pride on their timely deliveries to guarantee the customer’s ability to complete their projects.

Sod Products | Illinois

Our premium sod is grown on Drummer and Elburn mineral soils. Coon Creek Sod Farms, LLC uses a 4 way blend of elite Kentucky Bluegrass varieties to produce the sod we harvest. Varieties are chosen for early spring green up, dark green color, late fall color retention, denseness, drought tolerance, disease resistance, wear tolerance, and low mowing capabilities. Every field of our sod is Illinois State inspected – free of weeds, pests, and diseases. Coon Creek fertilizes its sod before it leaves the farm and doesn’t require an additional application of fertilizer for 3 months.

We harvest our sod with a ½ inch of topsoil. Our Kentucky Bluegrass sod will tolerate 30-40% shade, but performs best in full sun. Each roll of sod measures 2 feet wide by 5 feet long which is equivalent to 10 square feet. We usually stack 54 rolls of sod on a pallet, but we can adjust as necessary.

Sod is always available for you to pick up at our Hampshire farm or delivery can be scheduled to your jobsite. Unlike many other sod farms, Coon Creek does not harvest any sod in advance and leave it sit on pallets, waiting to be sold. All of our premium sod is cut fresh per order to guarantee you receive the highest quality product of the sod industry available.

“Combining experience and knowledge with our passion for growing high quality sod results in a great product.”
